WordConv is able to convert StarOffice user dictionaries (.DIC-files) into text files and and vice versa. The format of the user dictionaries (.DIC-files) were found by trying by myself. Since I do not understand every single bit used the provided converter might cause some problems.
WordConv will help you to load, edit, sort user dictionaries or text files (.DIC or .TXT) and save them in both formats.
Right now (1998) the German language was reformed including lots of new spelling rules. StarOffice up to 5.1a is not capable to deal with both of them independently. Therefore you can use that tool to create user dictionaries to use the old or new rules. You can also migrate your User Dictionary from MS Word to StarOffice. Other people might find it useful just to edit or convert their user dictionaries.
WordConv was tested for StarOffice 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 and 5.2.
Here you can find WordConv for Win32 and Win16. The Win16-Version is compiled for OS/2-user. I hope it is running in the Win16-shell of OS/2.
The Win16-Version inherits limitations of that operating system. Depending on the Windows version and the file size the integrated editor has to be switched off (minimal 32kB maximal 2 MB). Export and sort is possible anyway. Furthermore, only 8.3-file names are supported. The Win32-version does not have any of these restrictions.

Support for the new exceptional custom dictionaries of StarOffice 5.1. Now you can give an suggestion for an avoided word. Put the avoided word, followed by two equal-chars and the suggestion like this: Word==StarWriter.
So far I am not aware of any bugs. Restrictions of the Win16 version are explained in a former section.
