MS Wordtm comes up with a new document and you can start typing. To be honest, I don't like this, but a lot of people do. For sure this behaviour is also possible using StarOffice. Add a parameter and StarOffice starts with an empty text, spreadsheet or whatever.
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/swriter |
StarWriter-text |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/scalc |
StarCalc-spreadsheet |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/simpress |
StarImpress-presentation |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/sdraw |
StarDraw-drawing |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/swriter/GlobalDocument |
StarWriter-master-document |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/swriter/web |
StarWriter/Web-HTML-file |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/frameset |
StarWriter/Web-Frameset |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/application/sbase |
StarBase-database |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/smath |
StarMath-equation |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/schart |
StarChart-chart |
c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/simage |
StarImage-bitmap |
If you want to start StarOffice every time with such an empty document, change the link to StarOffice on your operating system desktop and add these parameter. If you use Windows select the StarOffice-icon, click the right mouse button and choose properties. Change the entry in destination e.g. to c:\Office51\soffice.exe private:factory/swriter.
Due to a bug in StarOffice 5.0 the following steps are needed:
Start StarOffice
Create an empty text-document
File|Template
Name: Leer Category:
Standard Button: OK
Now create a plain text file that contains the following lines:
[InternetShortcut]
Title=Shortcut to leer.vor
URL=macro:documents.open("file:///c|/office50/template/leer.vor","","T")
Target=Browser
Save it as c:\Office50\template\leer.vor.url beaware of the correct suffix. This is important.
Start StarOffice with this file as parameter: c:\Office50\soffice.exe c:\Office50\template\leer.vor.url
Use these steps to start StarOffice 5.0 with a document type of your choice.
